Horse of the Year Show Celebrates 125 Years of the Welsh Cob and Pony Society

Horse of the Year Show is proud to celebrate 125 years of The Welsh Pony and Cob Society, with a spectacular commemorative display in the iconic ‘Arena of Dreams’.   Founded in 1901 at a historic gathering of Welsh pony and cob breeders in Llandrindod Wells, Mid Wales, the Welsh Pony and Cob Society has played a vital role for more than a century in preserving and promoting one of the world’s most versatile and admired native breeds.   Taking centre stage on Sunday afternoon at HOYS, this unforgettable celebration will feature approximately 30 outstanding Welsh ponies and cobs, to represent all five sections of the breed. Winning Pony Club Musical Ride Team to Perform at Horse of the Year Show 2026

The “World’s Most Famous Horse Show”, Horse of the Year Show, returns to Birmingham for its 25th anniversary year at the NEC from 7–11 October 2026, bringing together the very best in showing and showjumping. Horse of the Year Show introduces a new format for The Price Family Supreme In-Hand Championship 

We are delighted to unveil an exciting new format for The Price Family Supreme In-Hand Championship at HOYS 2026, designed to enhance the championship experience while giving every qualified exhibit the opportunity to shine in one of the show’s most iconic arenas.  In previous years, qualified animals competed in two sections in the TopSpec Arena, divided between exhibits up to and including 148cm and those exceeding 148cm. The first and second placed combinations from each class advanced to The Price Family Supreme In-Hand Championship in the Andrews Bowen International Arena, where the overall champion was crowned.   Under the revised format for HOYS 2026, The Price Family Supreme In-Hand Championship will feature 20 qualified animals. All exhibits will first present for pre-judging in the TopSpec Arena
