Horse of the Year Show Publish Rule Book for 2023

Horse of the Year Show would like to make all competitors aware that there have been some changes to the HOYS rulebook for the 2023 season.  All changes/additions are highlighted in bold for your attention.  In addition, we would like to draw particular attention to the Ridden Partbred Pony of the Year.  In recent years, the class has specified that animals must be exhibited in coloured brow bands and riders must wear a dark-coloured jacket.  It was felt that this restricted many animals that would be eligible to compete under the partbred ruling but would not naturally ‘fit’ into the tack/dress stipulated.  Therefore for 2023, and with immediate effect, the

HOYS introduce new section into the Coloured Horse and Pony Championship

Horse of the Year Show are delighted to announce the introduction of a new section into the Coloured Horse and Pony classes for 2023.  The new class will allow greater scope for animals that are not naturally coloured to enter the class, as horses and ponies are permitted to be ‘coloured in’ to meet the definitions of the coloured horse or pony. Introduced to HOYS in 1998, the classes have proven a very popular addition to the timetable, and the show is keen to allow competitors to express their creative flair in this new addition.  All coloured in variations will be accepted however extra marks will be given to the
