HOYS introduce new section into the Coloured Horse and Pony Championship

Horse of the Year Show are delighted to announce the introduction of a new section into the Coloured Horse and Pony classes for 2023.  The new class will allow greater scope for animals that are not naturally coloured to enter the class, as horses and ponies are permitted to be ‘coloured in’ to meet the definitions of the coloured horse or pony.

Introduced to HOYS in 1998, the classes have proven a very popular addition to the timetable, and the show is keen to allow competitors to express their creative flair in this new addition.  All coloured in variations will be accepted however extra marks will be given to the animals that match the iconic HOYS brand colours of purple and gold.

The Coloured-In Horse and Pony of the Year will take place on Sunday 8th October, and qualifiers for the Championship will take place across the UK alongside the established showing qualifiers.

Event Director for Grandstand Media commented: “We have taken the decision to introduce this class into the show in order to open up the opportunity to compete at Horse of the Year Show to those horses who are not naturally coloured. It gives everyone a chance to see a fantastic line up of different coloured animals and for competitors to showcase your colour, your style…Because every horse is worth it!”

Horse of the Year Show 2023 takes place from 4th – 8th October. For further show information please visit our website.
