Timetable announced for this year’s HOYS Live Zone

Horse of the Year Show is proud to present the HOYS Live Zone for the second year running with some new and exciting talks and demonstrations. The HOYS Live Zone is located in the HOYS Retail Village at Horse of the Year Show which takes place the NEC Genting Arena Birmingham from 3rd – 7th  October this year. The staged area which was introduced last year will incorporate a fabulous line up of guest speakers, interactive sessions, celebrity rider signings and talks from leading industry experts providing visitors with the opportunity to get more involved than ever before. See the timetable below and here: https://hoys.co.uk/whats-on/ (Please note: times may be subject to change).

What’s On?

Perfect Your Posture: Dee Holdsworth will be hosting some very helpful and interactive sessions throughout the week to help you to perfect your position on the horse in order to achieve optimal performance. Dee works with some of the best horse and rider combinations in the world, with three competing at Rio 2016, who all came home with gold medals.

British Horse Society: with riding on the road becoming ever more dangerous, the British Horse Society will be on the Live Zone on Saturday afternoon to showcase their recently launched virtual reality films to raise awareness of the issues horse riders face on Britain’s roads. The virtual reality films were created to show drivers what it’s like to be riding a horse when a car passes too fast or too close. Viewing the film gives you the alarming first-hand experience of being on a horse as a vehicle passes too close. The film also demonstrates what drivers experience when approaching a horse in a vehicle that is going too fast. The team from the BHS will be on hand to answer any questions you have about keeping you and your horse safe on the roads.

Meet the displays: From the Andrews Bowen International Arena to the HOYS Live Zone stage! Meet our fantastic displays including the Household Cavalry, Alizée Froment and the Equestrian Vaulters and find out more about them!

Career Panel: On Thursday we will have a line-up of industry experts waiting to answer all of your questions about the highs and lows of their jobs and offering advice to anyone wanting to follow a similar path. Featuring speakers from the British Grooms Association, Horse & Hound, the National Stud, the British Racing School as well as Dee Holdsworth (founder of DS Therapy and Chairman of the Equine Sports Massage Association) and showing and showjumping rider Kirsty Aird.

Equestrian Pilates: if you suffer from stiffness or bad posture then there will be a daily interactive Equine Pilates session presented by Sue Gould-Wright of Equestrian Pilates. Sue will have you limbered up in no time with some simple yet effective exercises which you can do at home or at the yard.

Charity of the Year: The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association will be at HOYS this year as our official charity. They will be putting on demonstrations in the HOYS Live Zone at the weekend displaying how intelligent their Guide Dogs are and what a vital role they play in their owner’s lives.

Charity Auction: Wocket Woy & The Pwoducer turn auctioneers to raise money for our official charity, Guide Dogs UK! Will you be the lucky bidder that walks away with one of these fabulous lots?

  • A one weekend hire of a Range Rover Velar offered by Listers Range Rover Solihull

Horse Rescuers: Redwings, World Horse Welfare and the Horse World Trust will be discussing the current challenges that horse charities face, how they are dealing with the current rehoming crisis and presenting their new campaigns to promote horse welfare. They will also be showing profiles of current horses they have for rehoming so come and ask them your questions and maybe you’ll find your next HOYS star?
