Blue Chip Feed continue to sponsor the Junior Newcomers for the 26th consecutive year

British Showjumping and Blue Chip Feed celebrate the continuation of their partnership as they renew their sponsorship of the Pony Newcomers Championship until 2024, making them the longest standing title sponsor for British Showjumping. They have sponsored the Pony Newcomers Championship continuously since 1999.

The Pony Newcomers continues to provide a significant springboard for the progression of junior riders, with many going on to represent GBR in European and Nations Cup teams. The Pony Newcomers is open to JD and JC ponies that have not won a total of 500 points, to be ridden by Junior Members.

Pony and rider combinations travel the length and breadth of the country each year in order to gain their four double clears in the Pony Newcomers first round to qualify for the second rounds. The top four pony/rider combinations from each of the six second round competitions qualify for the prestigious Championship at Horse of the Year Show which, for many junior riders, will be their first taste of a major championship.

Blue Chip Feed, specialise in Feed Balancers for every stage of a showjumper’s life. From their Super

Concentrated range for good doers or those needing specific nutritional support, through to the trusted bagged balancer range including Original and Pro, the choice for many competition ponies and horses.

Blue Chip Feed are the only feed balancer brand formulating with Nucleotides, a revolutionary ingredient which is vital for reducing the effects of lactic acid production, assisting in improving stamina, fitness and recovery.

Commenting on this announcement, Clare Blaskey, founder of Blue Chip Feed, said “It’s been wonderful to see how the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers has evolved and improved over Blue Chip Feed’s 24 years of sponsorship. A series and championship that has proven time and time again, to be a stepping stone to greater things, providing ponies and their riders the chance of experiencing the ‘big time’ in an international arena. The Blue Chip Pony Newcomers gives young riders the confidence of knowing they can reach their goals and make a career out of show jumping. Competing in the series shows their parents and trainers that they have what it takes, and that the time, expense, and dedication is worth it.”

Maria Haig, Head of Communications at British Showjumping, added “We are thrilled to have Blue Chip Feed continue the sponsorship of the Pony Newcomers Championship and crown them as our Longest Standing Title Sponsor ever! Their support over the last 24 years has been invaluable for our sport and for a huge number of pony riders who have progressed through the ranks and gained the championship experience they need to be able to breakthrough to youth teams and beyond. We feel extremely fortunate to have the continued support from such a well-respected market leader.”

Competitors have until the end of April 2022 to qualify for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Rounds. The Second Rounds will be held during May to July 2022, which will see competitors battling for that all important place in the Championship Final at Horse of The Year Show (5th-9th October 2022).
