Horse of the Year Show Qualifying Story 💜
“Moelview Prince Harry and myself qualified at Lincolnshire County in the Welsh Section Bs.
“Lincolnshire County is about four hours away and one we haven’t done for a few years. Harry hadn’t been there before. They have lovely big rings and this year we wanted to do a couple of different county shows so we didn’t enter our more local county shows that were on through June and with judges we’d never competed under, we thought it would be a nice day out.
“He was very happy and quite lively when we arrived at the show and started work.
“After the go-round, we were never pulled in and joined the end of the lineup. With nothing to lose, we went out, and I was really pleased with his show, which he did a really good gallop up the hill. I was just hoping for a middle placing and pleased with how everything went.
“As they called out the numbers in reverse order, with everyone in the class getting a place, it got to 4th without our number being called. I thought ours would be next, but to my shock it wasn’t. We were called forward in second place, and as we started to walk towards our space to see the class winner, who I was pretty sure had already qualified, I was shaking. As I realised that the pony had already got their ticket, the tears started. I couldn’t believe we had got the ticket, and it was so early in the season. Things like that don’t happen to people like us!
“It had been a difficult winter with problems and injuries either with Harry or myself and after missing out last year, finishing on two seconds it really was such a special feeling, making all the pain and hard work worth it.
“We are totally home produced and having Harry from a 3 year old (now 12) just makes the long hours worth every minute.
“We can’t wait to trot around the arena of dreams!!”
