“The Rise of Megland Sweet Serenade : The True Lead Rein Show Pony.
“Two years ago, Megland Sweet Serenade (Tilly – then age 5) and Charlotte (then age 3) were introduced by Sarah Newbould of Emmerson’s Show Team who brilliantly envisaged the pair together.
“Charlotte and Tilly both hail from the North East of England. The wonderful Mrs J. Redpath of The Megland Stud, kindly extended an invitation to Charlotte to visit Tilly’s Sire (Megland Blue Moon) and Dam (Romano Sweet Sensation). The Stallion Blue showed his true colours as he sweetly nuzzled Charlotte’s head with the softest of touch, his incredibly sweet temperament heart warming to see with little Charlotte. Tilly’s temperament echoes her father. This was experienced in the ring with Tilly during their first show together when Charlotte suddenly slipped on her wet saddle due to non-stop torrential rain, landing flat on poor Tilly’s neck with a bump! As we all drew a sharp breath – Tilly stood steadfast for her little wobbly novice rider. (Video Clip below)

“The girls’ partnership has blossomed over the past two seasons together. Time spent out of the saddle during holidays playing “hunt the carrot” together, our “Muddy Mare” has a brilliant talent for locating and rolling in THE MUDDIEST spot in the field, resembling anything but a smart show pony!
“The time spent in the saddle together has been invaluable. Tilly patiently supported Charlotte establishing her rising trot (Tilly being her first pony), guided exceptionally by Sarah who knows every inch of Tilly. Tilly has only ever been in Sarah’s professional kind hands, the bond of trust is clear to see when they are together.
“This special partnership has continued to develop a natural balance and rhythm together, Charlotte is able to comfortably trot with one hand and no strap due. This bond that they have together was displayed during their BSPS Blue Riband performance, led by Sarah who has the lightest of touch with her lead rein on the tip of a finger. The sweet mare with her free flowing forward cadence, her natural outline and freedom of movement, enjoys floating effortlessly in the ring alongside Sarah.
“It was at The Royal Highland Show, this partnership gained a red rosette and their special HOYS ticket as they were decorated Show Pony Champion. Thank you Tilly, the sweetest serenade, Charlotte’s beloved true lead rein pony – beyond delighted entering The “Arena of Dreams” together.”
