We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Mr Robert Oliver.
Robert dedicated his whole life to the equestrian industry, in particular through showing and judging, for which he was internationally renowned. A gentleman whose wealth of knowledge and support for the industry is without question, many HOYS fans will have witnessed this first-hand throughout the 21 years that he judged the SEIB Search for a Star Series.
Amassing Championship titles in Hunters, Riding Horses, Hacks and Cobs, Robert had an enviable record at Horse of the Year Show, where he went on to claim the ultimate accolade as Supreme Champion an incredible five times. After an exceptional career in and out of the show ring, it was therefore totally appropriate that in 2018 we were honoured to present Robert with the HOYS Equestrian of the Year Award.
Undoubtedly one of the finest producers and showmen of his time, he will be greatly missed by so many. We send our sincere condolences to Claire and to all his family.
