The 2016 Dressage Future Elite Championship winner, Hawtins Delicato, has recently been announced as Carl Hester’s 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games hopeful. The drive behind the Dressage Future Elite Championship is to showcase the most promising Grand Prix dressage horses of the future, making this an incredible success story for the initiative which was introduced to Horse of the Year Show in 2012.
Hawtins Delicato, a seven year old Hanoverian gelding, won at the Horse of the Year Show last year with dressage superstar Charlotte Dujardin. The pair scored an incredible 78.62% in the championship and took the £2,000 prize money.
With more than three years to go before the Tokyo Olympic Games, Carl Hester has stated that he has high hopes to put Great Britain’s Dressage team on the medal winning podium again. And, despite him celebrating his 50th birthday recently, Carl has put a halt to all talks of him retiring any time soon.
The Dressage Future Elite Championship returns to the Andrews Bowen International Arena at Horse of the Year Show on Thursday 5th October. The Championship will enable horses between the ages of eight and ten to gain invaluable experience under the spotlight in an international competition setting. There are only eight spaces available in this prestigious competition and to qualify for an invite all horses must be competing between Advanced Medium and International I level. Also on Dressage Thursday, Charlotte Dujardin will be hosting the Dressage Masterclass in the afternoon as well as taking centre stage in the HOYS Live Zone for a Q&A and rider signing. For your chance to get some training tips and meet the queen of dressage, secure your ticket to HOYS today.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are Gold Ticket days at HOYS meaning you just need one ticket to give you access for the full day and for both arenas. Saturday and Sunday are split into daytime and evening performance tickets but all ticket options give you full day access to the HOYS Retail Village. To buy your tickets, call the Box Office on 0844 581 8282 or visit https://www.theticketfactory.com/hoys/online/
