Blue Chip to celebrate 20th anniversary of Pony Newcomers Championship sponsorship in 2018

Sheffield based Blue Chip Feed was founded back in 1996 by Clare Blaskey and was named after her horse Blue Chip. Having had horses all of her life. Clare was keen to explore the advanced ways of feeding horses and ponies and knew that both developing veterinary science and the importance of nutrition were pivotal to this. At the time, feed balancers were a totally new concept but now they are Blue Chip’s passion and the team are always looking to deliver products that will really make a difference to horses and ponies, and their new Super Concentrated range includes a calming balancer and a balancer for those prone to ulcers.

Blue Chip has a feed balancer suitable for every showjumping horse or pony, and each of the balancers contain digestive aids, a comprehensive hoof, coat and respiratory supplement, a respiratory formula, nucleotides, antioxidants and oils. Blue Chip also extends their support to all British Showjumping members via an exclusive 10% discount on all online orders placed with Blue Chip.

The popular Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Series is for registered ponies in JD and JC that have not won a total of 500 points and they are to be ridden by Junior Members. Starters travel all over the country in their quest to pick up one of the coveted qualification spots for the Championship Final, which will once again take place during Horse of the Year Show at Birmingham’s Genting Arena (3rd – 7th October 2018).

Clare Blaskey said “Doesn’t time fly. I can’t believe it is twenty years since Blue Chip first sponsored the Pony Newcomers Championship. We have had the most amazing winners and some have gone on to be sponsored by Blue Chip and have also represented our country abroad. It has been amazing to meet the winners, their families and owners of the pony and we enjoying hearing about their backgrounds alongside their aspirations for the future.”

Maria Haig, Head of Communications at British Showjumping, added “Celebrating two decades of continual sponsorship of a National Championship stands testament to Blue Chip’s commitment to the sport. Their enthusiasm for the Pony Newcomers and ongoing interest in those that qualify for the Final is inspiring and we feel extremely proud to be announcing them as our longest standing title sponsor. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Clare Blaskey and her team at Blue Chip for the continued commitment and support.”

Competitors have until the 30th April 2018 to qualify for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Rounds. The Second Rounds will be held during May – August 2018 and competitors will be vying for that all important place in the Championship Final.
