Apollos Secret Agent’s name is cleared in dope test

On Wednesday 5th October at Horse of the Year Show 2016, Apollos Secret Agent which was competing in the Miniature Horse of the Year Championship (following an earlier win in the Miniature Youngstock of the Year Championship) was dope tested by the onsite vet following a formal objection which was placed by another competitor.

Further to a blood sample being taken from Apollos Secret Agent, the sample has been analysed using documented LGC methods and we have received confirmation that no prohibited substances were found. Consequently there will be no further action taken on this matter and the results for Class 27C Miniature Youngstock Horse of the Year will stand.

Due to the nature of the sport, Horse of the Year Show has a duty to investigate all formal objections received and given the distressing situation for the connections of Apollos Secret Agent, we appreciate how co-operative they have been on this matter. The circumstances in which this objection was made were very unpleasant causing considerable distress. HOYS is bound to properly investigate all complaints but if in the future there is any evidence of a deliberate attempt to manipulate the competition such conduct will not be tolerated by HOYS. Objectors who raise an unfounded objection may be subject to disqualification from all HOYS competition.
