Anya Dewey-Clark has big ambitions following her win at Horse of the Year Show

Anya Dewey-Clarke announced her ambition to ride at the Olympics after continuing a memorable Horse of the Year Show campaign at Birmingham NEC. The 10-year-old, from Brampton in Lincolnshire, won the Enablelink Ltd 128cm Championship with experienced campaigner Jim, and also finished third on Kilcreene Snapdragon. And that latest success came a day after winning the National Pony Society/Mole Valley Farmers 143cm Working Hunter Pony of the Year aboard Tullibards Silver Mine. Relishing being back in the Andrews Bowen International Arena, Anya and 17-year-old Jim were first to go in the jump-off, and their time of 25.60 seconds proved uncatchable. Douglas Breen, son of Irish international showjumper Shane Breen, pushed

Double win for Chris Smith at Horse of the Year Show

Chris Smith completed a notable double on day three at Horse of the Year Show by winning the Dallamires Stable Cup in convincing fashion. Having already secured the Grandstand Welcome Stakes with Messarado Blue, Chris produced another high-class performance aboard 13-year-old stallion Chagolou OS. Their jump-off time of 35.18 seconds defeated strong challenges from the likes of Laura Renwick, who finished second on the highly-rated Marseille, and third-placed Mark Edwards with Dillinger NE. “Every win is fantastic, but to have two wins here on one day is a credit to the whole team, not just me and the horses,” said a delighted Chris. “It is one of the best wins

Hollie Gerken continues her winning streak

Hollie Gerken’s remarkable recent domination of flagship pony classes at Horse of the Year Show continued as she successfully defended the STX-UK Pony Foxhunter title. The 15-year-old Essex rider won the Newcomers, Leading Pony Showjumper and Foxhunter in 2024, completing an historic hat-trick. This time around she will leave for home with the Newcomers and Foxhunter safely retained, completing another masterclass that almost defied belief. In winning the Foxhunter again, she became only the second rider in its 40-year HOYS history to achieve back-to-back successes after Sarah Marshall in 1996 and 1997. And she did it following a jump-off that saw 18 combinations progress from 26 starters to what was

Victorious return to HOYS for Laura Renwick

Laura Renwick made a winning return to the Horse of the Year Show as international action took centre-stage on day three at Birmingham’s NEC. The Essex star’s first HOYS appearance for 13 years could not have started in more impressive fashion as she landed The evoke Stakes with 11-year-old chestnut stallion Cottee. The one-round speed class saw them post a time of 52.16 seconds that only last-to-go Charlotte Ash and Irma-Riende seriously threatened. Charlotte finished on 52.96 seconds, with third place going to Irish challenger Anthony Condon and LMD Marko, almost one second further adrift. “It’s great to get a win anywhere, but I think it is very special in that
