Thistledown Van-Der-Vaart does it again! A round of applause roared around the TopSpec Arena on Wednesday lunchtime at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) in appreciation of one fantastic pony who was crowned Brineton Colne Mountain & Moorland Mini Pony of the Year for the third year running.
Lucy Richardson’s Thistledown Van-Der-Vaart put in another flawless performance to take the spoils with new jockey for this season, Olivia Brightmore. A delighted Sharn Linney, who produces the pony, said: “He’s such a star. He went amazingly and the judge told me that he sent shivers up his spine!”
The eight-year-old grey Welsh Section A gelding won the Colne Mountain & Moorland Lead Rein Pony of the Year earlier in the morning.
‘Charles’ will have a new jockey next season, but for now sights will be set on the Ruckleigh School Supreme Pony of the Year Championship on Sunday evening.
Winner of the Brineton/KarePlus Mountain & Moorland First Ridden Pony of the Year, Newoak Designer Edition took the Reserve title. Jacky Newbery’s 10-year-old Dartmoor was beautifully ridden in the ring by Amelia Lockhart.
