Westown Stud have joined the HOYS legacy this week as they confirmed their sponsorship of the Working Hunter Championship for 2022.
When asked what HOYS meant to them, Sarah Weston of Westown Stud explained: “We have been attending HOYS over the last 20 years as spectators and the last 10 we have been lucky enough to have a number of native ponies represent us.”
She continues: “Dougal of Dykes Highland stallion, now 16 years old, has contended both the flat and workers section, Westown Fire Cracker Dartmoor stallion contented the 122cm M&M Working Hunter Pony, Pumphill Pantheon Dartmoor gelding and my daughter, then aged 8, were lucky enough to be placed in the M&M First Ridden class, but most recently Westown Wild Fire, my 5-year-old Dartmoor Stallion won the Dartmoor/Exmoor/Shetland class at HOYS 2021, ridden by Sarah Parker. It was magical and surreal. Everyone wants their ponies and horses to compete at this prestigious event and to win there was something I had only dreamed of!”
On why she was keen to sponsor the class, Sarah went on to say: “Having spent so much time and energy at HOYS 2021 after the pandemic we thought it would be fabulous to get more involved and give something back. Being passionate about horses and breeding, this is the place to come and view all those who have made it.”
Horse of the Year Show Event Director, Jane Warmington, commented on the new sponsorship: “We’re delighted to have Westown Stud onboard this year to sponsor the Working Hunter Championship. Passionate breeders who champion these amazing animals are the heart and soul of the show, so to have a stud like Westown involved is a huge positive for us.”
Horse of the Year Show takes place from 5th – 9th October 2022 at The NEC, Birmingham, bringing together another year of breath-taking displays and unbeatable competition. We can’t wait to see you there!
