Sarah & Bella’s Story

Horse of the Year Show Qualifying Story 💜

“We have owned Felix (Fawsley Temple-Hill) for about 18 months, and he has definitely become part of our family and really loves the variety in his life! Hacking, jumping and being cantered round bareback whilst Bella is doing the Macarena on top!

“Qualifying for HOYS has been a dream of mine since my daughter Bella started riding, and I brought her first pony when she was 6 months old. Until this year I always thought it would be impossible, as we have the riding school at home, I wasn’t able to be a member of TSR .

“This year gave us a little bit of hope, hoping I would do enough of the qualifiers to gain enough points to get the wildcard entry in our class. The Show Pony Lead rein.

“Not having had the season start as we wanted with the loss of my brother, the dream slipped away even more, not having much enthusiasm to continue. But wanting to do him proud and continue our name, I was able to carry on with the support of friends and family to keep going!

“We have been to the Royal Three Counties to get a 6th. This gave us one point, so moving the right way, Lincolnshire county another 6th, so another point! Dream closer when we came 2nd at NCPA Staffs, gaining 8 points and only 1 mark away from the winner.

“Nearly then didn’t get to Stoneleigh as we had lost our two terriers so 45 minutes late leaving. Got there by the skin of our teeth and only went and Won!

“Absolutely can not believe this has happened for us. I genuinely feel my brother is supporting from above as this always seemed so far away for our little home produced team.

“Bella does so much if the work herself riding before school, after school and always up around 6am to help me on the yard. The day after we qualified we were straight back to reality with feeding calves and helping my dad through milking time. I’m so very proud of her and couldn’t ask for more.”
