We qualified at NCPA Staffs Festival.
This is both mine and my Dales pony Ray’s first affiliated year at showing. Being in my mid 40’s and a true Amateur ( works full-time in a non horsey job ) I never thought I would qualify for HOYS.
I purchased Ray ( Nipna Outrageous) as a foal from the Pennell family. He was backed by my friend Vicki Casey. All I wanted to do was enjoy my showing and have a go at Search for a Star. In his first season as a 6 year old he had to step up as my other Dales was lame. At his 3 rd ever ridden show he got 3rd at Vale View Search for star so I thought we ought to give it another go. So in July we headed over to The Showing Register show at Stoneleigh for another SFAS qualifier. I was over the moon to be second and qualify for the final. In November we headed back to Stoneleigh for Your Horse Live. He went amazing and won his M&M ridden class, went Overall ridden Champion and then Reserve Supreme Champion.
This year we thought we would have a affiliated classes and have qualified for RI and now HOYS!
It is never to late to give it a go. I’m 45 and never did I think I would be competing at HOYS
