The two-time reigning champions, Woody and Buzz driven by Alison Osborne, managed to hold onto their HOYS title and make it three years in a row winning the Osborne Refrigerators Double Harness Scurry of the Year Championship at Horse of the Year Show 2022.
Giving the Saturday night crowd something to cheer about, closest rivals Piglet and Roo, driven by previous winner Jemma Millman, just clipped the cone on the way into the box which left the door wide open for Woody and Buzz to swoop in and top the leader board.
“They are the most amazing ponies! They gave me everything in there tonight and they are incredible. We haven’t had a particularly good week, but they loved the atmosphere in there tonight and tried extra-hard.”
Her lightning-fast round was over in just 42.86, coming out of the box in the fastest time of the week and finishing three whole seconds ahead of their nearest rival, Jemma Millman and her second pairing Tigger and Owl, who finished in a time of 45.42 seconds.
The same pairing of ponies have been together for all three of their wins, joined by backstepper Hannah Rogers. Alison continues: “Woody drives on the left and he is 12, and Buzz drives on the right and he is 14. They work so well together. We are so lucky to have the shows leading up to HOYS so they can get used to a crowd but it was so loud in there tonight and they loved it.”
Alison plans to be back here next year to defend their title.
