Sponsors announced for HOYS Coloured Horse and Pony Classes in 2020

Horse of the Year Show look forward to welcoming back CHAPS UK as class sponsors in 2020, along with additional supporters:

  • Coloured Ridden Non-Native Pony of the Year sponsored by CHAPS UK / Man Wah UK
  • Coloured Ridden Non-Native Horse of the Year sponsored by CHAPS UK / Burghwallis Stud
  • Coloured Ridden Native/Cob/Traditional Pony of the Year sponsored by CHAPS UK / The White Crow
  • Coloured Ridden Native/Cob/Traditional Horse of the Year sponsored by CHAPS UK / Harrison Civil Engineering

CHAPS UK has over 21,000 coloured equines of all shapes and sizes registered. The society caters for its members in many ways including regional shows, an annual championship show, and ridden Horse of the Year Show qualifiers.

In 2019, Michelle Cuerden’s piebald stallion, ‘Del Boy V’ (Derek), was ridden by Vikki Smith to land the title for the Coloured Horse and Pony of the Year Championship sponsored by CHAPS (UK).

The coloured horse and pony classes will also be supported by The White Crow, Harrison Civil Engineering Ltd., Burghwallis Stud and Man Wah UK.

The White Crow

The White Crow is a 16th century, family-run coaching inn serving homemade traditional dishes seven days a week. Helen and Stuart Birch of The White Crow commented: “Horse of the Year Show took over our world growing up. We were glued to the TV, jumping every fence and counting every stride, watching in awe of the gleaming show horses and dreaming of one day being there in person. The White Crow is both proud and honoured to support HOYS for all the dreams still to come true.”

Harrison Civil Engineering Ltd.

Harrison Civil Engineering Ltd. is a family-run specialist groundwork company based in Wigan, Lancashire who are keen supporters of showing, having recently bred some of their own horses and ponies for the show ring. Sharon and Steve Harrison of Harrison Civil Engineering Ltd. commented: “HOYS is the most prestigious show. It’s the one that everyone wants to win. We are so proud to be associated with the event as well as CHAPS UK which are a fantastic society to be a part of.”

Burghwallis Stud

The Doncaster-based Burghwallis Stud specialises in breeding quality native coloureds for type, temperament, and performance. Jane and William Turnbull of Burghwallis Stud commented: “Having been members and supporters of CHAPS for eleven years, we view them more as a family than a society. It is a great privilege to sponsor a class alongside this organisation at one of the best horse shows in the world.”

Man Wah UK

Man Wah UK is part of the wider Man Wah group which is involved in the research, development, production, sale and related services of sofas, mattresses, panel furniture and furniture accessories. Alan Marnie of Man Wah UK commented: “We feel very privileged to be supporting one of the greatest horse shows in the UK. The coloured horse and pony classes always draw huge crowds and it’s great to see them growing in popularity.”

Horse of the Year Show Event Director, Emma Williams, commented: “Together with their various supporters, it has been great to have CHAPS UK’s continued support of coloured horses and ponies at the show for the last 23 years. We look forward to celebrating these fantastic animals at Horse of the Year Show once again with our valued sponsors in October.”
