Michaela Scott produced the performance of her career to win the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Championship at the Horse of the Year Show.
The Northamptonshire rider guided Eddie G Z to a commanding victory, dominating a jump-off that saw them triumph by almost two seconds from Gaspar Maksud and Ballypatrick Tiberius, with Holly Smith and Une Copine Van Overis finishing third.
The iconic Foxhunter class once again delivered the goods, attracting the finest of British talent that provided a thrilling conclusion to day two at Birmingham NEC.
“I can’t believe it,” Michaela said. “It has been a dream to qualify for the Foxhunter final, something I have dreamt about my whole life, and now we’ve won it.
“It is so special because I bought him as a three-year-old, and now we have won it. I can’t tell you what it means. When everything comes together, everything you have trained for, I can’t tell you how special that is.”
Reflecting on her jump-off performance, Michaela added: “I was horribly nervous, but the belief I have got in my horse I know he can do it.”
“He is so special. This is way up there. It is so true that this is the arena of dreams.”
“He is an unbelievably talented horse. He has won every national final possible for him and he is only eight years old. I think he can go all the way. This is the dream, and I am living it.”
