Born into the world of horses, Emma Tytherleigh began her journey at one of the UK’s largest residential riding schools – The Equestrian Centre in Wrexham. At 16, she discovered the thrill of Trick Riding, sparking a career that has galloped across continents and seen her perform alongside her beloved horses, ponies, and dog at castles and world-renowned equestrian theatres such as Cavalia and Cavalluna.
While Trick Riding remains her signature, Emma’s versatility shines through in disciplines such as Classical Dressage, Side Saddle, Liberty and Jousting.
More recently, she’s captured hearts with her charming and comedic Dog & Pony Show, a delightful contrast to the high-adrenaline stunts that first made her name.
Emma returns to the ‘Stage of Dreams’ – Horse of the Year Show. This arena holds special meaning, as she once sat in its audience as a teenager, dreaming of the day she’d perform there herself. Now, she takes the stage with her three miniature companions: Rocko, Rollo and Cowboy.
Meet the stars of the show
Emma’s act is a celebration of partnership, trust, and personality—brought to life by her extraordinary animal companions:
Rocko – From a tough beginning to a life filled with adventure, Emma’s once-in-a-lifetime Shetland pony has a story that’s nothing short of remarkable. Rocko has taught children to ride, dazzled as a driving pony, and earned a silver medal at a national showjumping competition in Spain.
His star power doesn’t stop at the paddock—he’s performed on stages across Europe, shared the screen with Ant & Dec, and featured in Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small.
Rollo – The tiniest but mightiest member of Emma’s herd! As the newest recruit, Rollo has already mastered the pedestal trick, perfected his polite hoof-shake, and knows how to bow like a true showman. He’s also a seasoned snack negotiator, often seen sneaking into his big brother’s breakfast.
Cowboy – The terrier with talent. Originally just a companion, Cowboy’s natural bond with the horses and love for performing turned him into a star. Now 8 years old, he’s the troupe’s dancer, emotional support pup, and self-appointed pony patrol officer.
Great things are possible with heart and determination – Emma hopes to inspire others to think beyond the textbook when it comes to animal training – especially with Shetland ponies. It’s a performance you’d be barking mad to miss!
