Dressage riders confirmed for The Dressage Future Elite Championship

Thursday evening at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) is a highlight for dressage fans, featuring the prestigious Dressage Future Elite Championship in the Andrews Bowen International Arena.

This standout class gives eight of Britain’s most exciting up-and-coming horses the chance to shine on a world-class stage. Each combination will perform an Intermediate I Freestyle to music, blending technical skill with creative expression.

This year we are joined by Paris 2024 Olympic Team Bronze Medallist, Becky Moody – riding 8-year-old – Magic Dream JB.

Talking about her horse, Becky said: “I bought her unseen from a video, after my friend saw her being ridden. It was the summer of 2020 so there was no way I could go see her – we just had to take a gamble!

“She is a poppet to have around, getting the most out of her is about making her feel confident and happy in the work she is doing. She definitely has the potential to be a good Grand Prix horse – how good we will just have to wait and see!”

Describing the championship class, Becky commented: “It’s so good to have HOYS – it lets them experience a true big indoor show atmosphere, but it’s always a great crowd and a very horse friendly arena in that it has lots of space around it. We are looking forward to it very much.”

The eight horse and rider combinations this year include:

  • Becky Moody riding Magic Dream JB
  • Darren Hicks riding Kinnear
  • Greg Sims riding Waverley Fellini
  • Jezz Palmer riding Ketcher B
  • Jezz Palmer riding Romanno Welfino
  • Lewis Robertson-Carrier riding Rubico
  • Matt Frost riding Kerouac
  • Tom Goode riding Margot

The Championship is a true test of partnership, precision, and performance. These horses are the future of British dressage, and it offers them the perfect platform to gain experience and confidence as they progress towards the top level.

Who will be crowned the Dressage Future Elite Champion for 2025? Only time will tell.
