An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Grandstand Group’s commercial department to fulfil the role of Commercial Sales assistant
Principally based at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, the successful candidate will be expected to work on projects including Horse of the Year Show, and to support the Commercial Department working on projects and initiatives on an ad hoc basis, as directed by the Trade Stand Sales Manager
During events, the applicant will be required, along with the company’s other personnel, at the expense of the company, to be based at the host venue. This currently involves staying at the Birmingham NEC for one week in October each year
The Role
- Research new sales leads
- Organise and implement mail outs for pro-active activity
- Maintain the sponsors database /hard copy files
- Monitor all sponsor payments and contracts
- Professional handling of all enquiries and bookings to convert to confirmed business with an emphasis on upselling existing clients
- Work to all deadlines and targets set by the Trade Stand Sales Manager
- Work with the Sponsorship Executive ensuring all sponsorship activation plans are delivered
- Help to maintain the sales spreadsheet/financial income spreadsheets
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports
- Liaise with sponsors on a day-to-day basis and regarding contractual/financial issues as required by the Sponsorship Executive
- Help to prepare and issue contracts – liaising with all relevant internal departments, to ensure the smooth communication and activation of all sponsorships
- Issue pre show information
Tasks at Events:
- Working with the team to deliver all sponsor/client benefits
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure all sponsor/client benefits are fulfilled as contracted/communicated
- Assist in the Commercial office to answer and deal with a variety of queries
- Liaising with sponsors/clients on-site
- Generally need to be able to handle a variety of situations/issues at the show (many under pressure)
- There is a requirement for extra hours (within the basic salary contract) both prior to and during company events
Essential Skills and Personal Qualities
- Computer literate – MS Word and Excel essential
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to prioritise workload and be highly organised
- Database management experience
- Attention to detail is a perquisite
- Good customer service skills – telephone and face 2 face
- Flexible approach to work
- Able to work within a team environment as well as being able to use own initiative
- Good time keeping essential
- A background in Sales would be beneficial
What We Offer
- Monday to Friday inclusive. 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
- Some weekend work and additional hours will be required in the run up to and during events.
- 20 days pro rata plus bank holidays
- Salary £18,000 to £20,000 depending on experience
