Horse of the Year Show are honoured to welcome the Binks family as new sponsors of the Show Hunter Pony classes at HOYS 2017. Residing in Yorkshire, the Binks family have had horses competing at HOYS since 1968 when David Tatlow won his first hunter championship title for the family with State Visit. The Show Hunter Pony Championship is important to the Binks family as their youngest daughter Hannah took the accolade in 2002 with her 15hh SHP Trewolla Denzil.
Speaking to Richard and Pauline Binks, they commented: “We are thrilled to be involved with HOYS as showing horses has been such a huge part of our family life. We have been showing for 50 years and this is now carried on through our granddaughter Florence Davies who has her successful lead rein show pony Barkway Tell Tale with Debbie Thomas. We also have 3 exciting horses at the yard of Charles and Hilary Le Moignan which will be ridden by Charles and our daughter Hannah.”
The Show Hunter Pony of the Year Championship is split into four sections by height of the pony: 122CM, 133CM, 143CM and 153CM. The winners of each section then go forwards in to the overall Championship where the HOYS Champion is crowned. The 2016 Show Hunter Pony of the Year Champion was 10-year-old Wycroft New Dimension, owned by Anne McKay and ridden by Jessica Renshaw-Smith.
Horse of the Year Show 2017 takes place at the Genting Arena, Birmingham’s NEC from the 4th – 8th October. For more information on the show please visit www.hoys.co.uk
