Alan Marnie & Family take on the Riding Horse of the Year classes at HOYS!

Horse of the Year Show is delighted to announce a new sponsorship for 2025. We welcome Alan Marnie and Family to the show, generously sponsoring the Alan Marnie & Family Small Riding Horse of the Year, Alan Marnie & Family Large Riding Horse of the Year and Alan Marnie & Family Riding Horse of the Year Championship.

The Riding Horse classes have been a staple at HOYS since 1986, when the infamous Richard Ramsay took the title aboard Mrs S. Rowe’s Meridian. Many prominent names in showing are part of the winners list, including Robert Oliver, Jayne Webber, Allister Hood and Robert Walker. Last year, Calcourt Soli was crowned Champion following a win in the Large Riding Horse; his rider Edward Young first competed at HOYS in 1974 and last won the Riding Horse Championship in the 1990s on Legal Eagle!

We asked Alan Marnie about the family’s generous sponsorship, ‘Following on from our support of the Working Hunter of the Year, we are equally thrilled to be sponsoring the Riding Horse section at Horse of the Year Show. Having competed at HOYS with my own horses for many years, this event holds a special place in my heart. It’s an honour to now support a class that celebrates such elegance, quality, and turnout, and we look forward to recognising the outstanding combinations who make this section so admired.’

Event Director of Horse of the Year Show, Emma Wardell comments on this new partnership, ‘We are always excited to expand the HOYS family, and welcoming Alan Marnie and Family is a wonderful addition to the show. They have been a part of the show for many years, and we are grateful for their generosity in supporting the prestigious Riding Horse Championships.  We look forward to welcoming Alan and the family in October.’

Horse of the Year Show takes place on the 8th – 12th October 2025 at the NEC, Birmingham. To stay up-to-date with the latest HOYS news and to be the first to know what’s happening, sign up to our newsletter here: https://hoys.co.uk/newsletter-sign-up/
