“I hadn’t seen Billy Bob for 9 months, since Horse of the Year Show in October 2025. due to my health.
“Watching him walk into the collecting ring at the New Forest Show was a moment that meant more to me than I could ever put into words. I welled up seeing his beautiful face, his flowing mane and that rhythmic walk these gentle giant have. But it was his smile that got me.
“For me, this day carried emotions beyond the competition itself.
“None of this would ever be possible without Emma Green’s dedication to Billy Bob.
“Billy Bob has no idea what he achieved last year. He simply walked into the ring with the same generous heart, trusting the people who love him and him giving everything he has.
“Sitting on my scooter at the ringside, I can honestly say it was the most nerve-wracking class I have ever watched.
“The day naturally brought its own quiet expectations. Those of us who love him so dearly simply wanted Billy Bob to shine. We hoped he would go into the ring and be exactly who he is, a very kind gentle soul.
“The moment Billy Bob’s number was called forward, pride, tears and joy filled my heart.
“Billy Bob’s qualification came in just his fifth ever ridden class in two years.
“Within those five appearances, he became Horse of the Year Show Ridden Heavy Horse Champion last year, only his third show, and has now claimed his place once again on the sport’s greatest stage. HOYS!
“To return to Horse of the Year Show is a privilege in any year.
“To do so as the Ridden Heavy Horse Class celebrates its 10th anniversary makes his journey even more special.
“Billy Bob has given us memories we will treasure forever.”
