Becky Moody added another title to her career portfolio by winning the Dressage Future Elite Championship for a third time at Horse of the Year Show.Becky Moody wins the Dressage Future Elite at Horse of the Year Show.
Becky, who helped Great Britain to Olympic team bronze at the Paris Games last year, recorded an emphatic success with the richly-promising eight-year-old Magic Dream JB.
The penultimate combination to perform their Intermediate I Freestyle to music test from eight starters, a score of 78.333% underlined the partnership’s potential.
The runner-up was Matt Frost with Kerouac on 75.500%, while Tom Goode and Margot took third place after scoring 73.542%.
“I am super-delighted with my horse,” Becky said. “She is only eight, so that was a big ask for her to go into that arena, but she coped amazingly.
“There were bits of the test that could have been better, but I was so pleased with her.
“The Horse of the Year Show is amazing. You walk from the stable to the arena and you see horses of every size, shape and colour, and for our up and coming horses it is an amazing opportunity to get them into a big atmosphere.
“This is the third time I have won here, so it is really nice to be back here and do it again with hopefully another future international grand prix horse.”
The class offers eight of Britain’s most exciting up-and-coming horses the chance to shine on a world-class stage, and the freestyle test saw them blend technical skill with creative expression.
Speaking before the event, judge Peter Storr said: “It is great for us to have dressage at HOYS, a really good thing.
“Dressage has always proved popular to the public, and especially when there is music involved.
“It is a class designed to showcase horses of the future, and performing in an arena like the one at HOYS is an important part of that.”
