Neither Harrietts life nor qualifying journey have been easy, until 2 months ago, when something amazing happened. For 2 years Harriett has been trying to qualify for HOYS in the Junior working hunter class. Harriett’s beautiful young pony Lily has found the step up to this level quite difficult. Harriett has left the ring on two feet more often than four. Harriett’s biggest fans and friends, Oliver & Ant Gibney, stepped in to help. They picked up a pony club pony, that’s only done “bits & bobs” for £750. Shadow (Hayesbrook Double Trouble), who is absolutely stunning, has never competed at working hunter. He’s so honest we decided to give him a shot. Shadow has jumped 2 riding club classes, then 2 HOYS qualifiers….. both times they jumped clear, and on their 2nd attempt, they qualified at the BSPS Summer Championships show and then went ring Champion.
Pint sized Harriett has endured 2 bone marrow transplants in her 9 years and receives weekly infusions for the rest of her life. Harriett has never considered giving up, actually saying “I don’t mind if I fall off, I just want to be there with my friends trying my best”. We are overcome with excitement for the opportunity they have on the 10th October.
Harriett’s goal next year is to get Lily there in the Junior class, and hopefully Shadow in the open class.
