This year, we are delighted to honour Tina Fletcher with the HOYS Equestrian of the Year award. Tina has enjoyed a glittering International Show jumping career and still competes at top level in the UK. Married to ex-Olympic show jumper Graham Fletcher and a mother of two, Oli and Will, Tina demonstrates skill and determination in a predominately male competitive world.

TinaFletcherK.B.I.SYorkshireBusiness.jpgTina’s dedication to the sport is incredible and not only does she still compete at the highest level, she is also one of a handful of BSJA Elite Trainers. Tina concentrates much of her time training horses and riders as well as producing competition horses from her base near Swindon with husband Graham. Juggling family and competing internationally is no mean feat but Tina has had an amazing competitive career with highlights at home and abroad. Perhaps most close to her heart would be winning the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II cup three times and being selected as reserve rider at the Barcelona Olympics.

This past year has seen Tina in phenomenal form on the International stage, sharing Team success at the Nations Cup in Linz-Ebelsberg, Austria and riding for Great Britain three times in Nations Cup Teams this season. To top off an incredible season she had been selected to represent Great Britain at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky – her first world championship. It was a great shame that Tina could not compete at WEG due to Hello Sailor picking up a minor injury in training shortly before the Games but too our delight, Hello Sailor is recovering well and she was able to come to HOYS instead!

Tina Fletcher is a superb role model for the next generation and a hugely popular personality on the circuit and so it is with great pleasure that we honour her with HOYS 2010 Equestrian of the Year.
