Wytchwood Love Potion is victorious in The Price Family Mini Show Pony of the Year

Lisa Kerr’s six-year-old Lead Rein Show Pony Wytchwood Love Potion was crowned The Price Family Mini Show Pony of the Year in an exciting finale to the Lead Rein Pony of the Year and First Ridden Pony of the Year classes on day four of Horse of the Year Show (HOYS).

Produced by Craig Elenor and Sara Parrott, the bay gelding is fairly early on in his showing career, having only been lightly shown last year, but was quick to establish his position standing Mini Show Pony Champion at BSPS in 2015.  He qualified for HOYS at the NPS Area 4 Summer Show.

Lisa bought the pony from the breeder as a three-year-old and he is ridden by her daughter, seven-year-old Cate, who will take him into First Ridden classes next year.

Lisa said: “We’re just thrilled. We were happy to be in the top 11. He’s such a lovely pony to have at home and is so good with the children.”

Both the manners of the pony and suitability for the rider are paramount in Lead Rein and First Ridden classes.

Reserve went to the second placed Lead Rein pony John Harvey’s Small Land Toy Story by Millwood Equador with Beatrice Traverner-Jordan in the saddle. First and second in the First Ridden were claimed by Sarah Bennett’s Anndalyse Sugar Plum and Henrietta Till’s Lowland Toy Soldier, respectively.
