The exhilarating Five Fence Challenge will be supported by Suregrow, the specially-designed fertiliser for horse and pony paddocks, when it takes place on Friday 10th October at Birmingham’s NEC.

The Suregrow Five Fence Challenge will feature a stellar line up of top international riders jumping up to five courses of five fences. These gradually increase in height throughout the rounds and only those who remain faultless in the current round are allowed to continue on to the next. The winner is the combination to have accumulated the most points at the end of the competition. It’s an edge-of-the-seat class that comes complete with the opportunity to see top horse and rider combinations jump right to the top of the wings!

Guy Williams became the first ever outright winner of the class at HOYS last year, when he was the only competitor to leave all the jumps intact in round four aboard Depardieu Van T Kiezelhof.

In the case of Suregrow, gradual quality growth is key. The slow-release fertiliser avoids sudden bouts of lush grass and its associated health problems, by steadily releasing nutrients over a three-month period. In contrast, traditional agricultural fertilisers can cause grass to grow very quickly, resulting in rich pastures that are not ideal for horses and ponies.

In just one treatment, Suregrow fertiliser will stimulate the development of strong, healthy roots in grasses. Its steady growth also thickens the sward, which helps to supress weed growth and aid the recovery of over-grazed and stressed paddocks. Suregrow is also very convenient to use, as horses can be turned out immediately after application.

Jonathon Cox of Suregrow commented: “Suregrow is delighted to be a part of HOYS 2014. The Show will provide an excellent platform to promote our product to a wider audience and illustrate the benefits of Suregrow to paddocks and, of course, horses and ponies.”

Helena Pettit from Grandstand Media Ltd added: “Now in its fourth year, this class gets more and more popular each time around and we’re thrilled that it will receive support from Suregrow in 2014. We’re looking forward to working with the Suregrow team on what is a real crowd-favourite at HOYS.“

In the meantime, now is the perfect time to purchase Suregrow ready for application to your paddock during the growing season, anytime between March and November.
