Hoys_RGB_new_logo.jpgHorse of the Year Show (HOYS) are thrilled to welcome, the second confirmed display for 2015, The Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch Activity Ride.

Precision riding, agility, impeccable timing and impressive routines will fill Birmingham’s NEC in October as the much celebrated Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch Activity Ride enter the arena.

The world famous Metropolitan Police will show enthralled audiences why this impressive branch of the police are so important, not only as a public service but as a key component of police community engagement activities.

The Mounted Branch are highly trained and are an essential part of policing public order. They are regularly deployed to support policing operations around major events and football matches across London, often in the midst of large noisy crowds. At times their work takes them into hostile environments where smoke and missiles may be used.

The horsemanship of the riders and the bravery of the horses prove why the Metropolitan Police attract recruits from all over the world, eager to train with the branch.

Since the inception of the ride in the 1950s the Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch have been impressing the world with their display of horsemanship, courage and training. Each horse is carefully selected for their temperament and stability and the riders are selected based on their commitment and riding ability.

Chief Inspector Helen O’Sullivan, who runs the Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch Activity Ride, says: "The Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch is delighted to have been invited to perform their thrilling Activity Ride at this year's Horse of the Year Show, having re-formed their display team in 2014. The Activity Ride provides a fast moving display, demonstrating a high level of skill and agility from both horse and officer."

"Inch perfect timing, total commitment, professionalism and complete trust are required as horses jump through fire, an opaque paper wall and complete fast crossovers. The riders will demonstrate their equitation skills by removing and replacing their jackets, taking off the stirrup irons and finally the saddles whilst the horses continue to jump a series of brush jumps."

Helena Pettit, managing director of Grandstand Media says: "We are looking forward to having the Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch Activity Ride perform at HOYS this year. They are always a crowd favourite with audience members of all ages and we know they will deliver a fantastic performance."

The Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch Activity Ride will be performing at various intervals throughout HOYS 2015 including two performances on Saturday and Sunday.
