Press accreditation is now open for Horse of the Year Show

Press accreditation to this year’s 70th Anniversary Horse of the Year Show is now open. This year’s Show will take place at the Genting Arena, Birmingham’s NEC from the 3rd – 7th October hosting a line-up of national and international showjumping classes as well as 29 showing championships throughout the week and two supreme championship titles. Press accreditation will close on Sunday 10th September, thereafter, applicants whose accreditation has been accepted will be sent details of how to collect their passes at the show. Please be aware that applicants may also be asked to email a passport size head and shoulders photograph to the Press Office as part of their accreditation. On the HOYS website there is a secure login area for press to access media resources such as press releases, images and archived results.

This year, aside from the five days of non-stop competition, we are delighted to be welcoming more displays to the show than ever before as part of our Platinum Jubilee celebrations, with four fabulous entertainment displays to wow the crowds. The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment Musical Ride brings a great sense of patriotism to the Show whilst the Musical Drive of the Heavy Horses showcases our heritage as they harrowed the arena in between classes in the early years. The GB Vaulters “Show Time” brings something a little different to the fore and the mesmerising bridle-less dressage display from Alizée Froment “L’Esprit Equestre” is sure to impress as she showcases her incredible talent for the first time in front of a UK crowd.

Thursday’s Dressage Masterclass will be delivered by the master of dressage Carl Hester, and the Pony Club Mounted Games will be back each day along with the Osborne Refrigerators Double Harness Scurry Championship. The show will come to a close on Sunday night with an exciting line up of entertainment to be announced over the coming weeks and we will have a guest celebrity in attendance to read out the iconic Ode to the Horse poem.

The Retail Village has a new and improved layout, along with the addition of music and a large screen which will stream the live action in the Andrews Bowen International arena and the HOYS Live Zone will have another interactive line-up with an array of guest speakers from leading industry experts.
