Our Cashel Blue crowned The Humdinger Consultancy Cob of the Year

 

Caroline Tyrrells’ blue and white Lightweight Cob, Our Cashel Blue took the honours in The Humdinger Consultancy Cob of the Year Championship with Allister Hood on day four of Horse of the Year Show (HOYS).

The seven-year-old denied last year’s Champion, Randalstown Musketeer, a consectuive win. Owned by Claire Twiston-Davies’, the eight-year-old grey gelding settled for Reserve representing the Heavyweights. He qualified at the Derbyshire Festival of Showing ridden by Victoria Hesford.

Our Cashel Blue is one of the best cobs that Allister has ridden in his career. He has been unbeaten in every class this season, only second at Royal Windsor where he was second to tonight’s Reserve, Randalstown Musketeer.

The combination took Supreme Cob Champion at the Royal International and qualified for HOYS in Allister’s home county at the Royal Norfolk Show.

He said: “It’s marvellous to win the class and to win the Championship as well is unbelievable.”

Second in the Lightweight section was Paul Mortimer’s Randalstown Rolex ridden by Robert Walker and in the Heavyweight section, Rachel McCourt’s Rockstone Raven ridden by Jayne Ross.
