Antonio Fernandez and NobicioBreathtaking natural horsemanship and enchanting liberty dressage are the signature elements of Horse of the Year Show’s (HOYS) second confirmed display for 2014, Doma en Libertad with Antonio Fernández “El Paqueto”. The British debut of this Spanish performance is set to captivate the imaginations of those attending “The World’s Most Famous Horse Show” as it returns to Birmingham’s NEC from 8th – 12th October 2014.

Antonio Fernández is based outside Seville in Southern Spain. He is an accomplished rider and a former National Dressage Champion. In addition, he has taken Spanish Showing Championships with both Arab and Spanish-bred horses. It is believed he is one of only two people to achieve this.

After meeting liberty work specialist Paco Bautista “El Zorro”, Antonio became intrigued by natural horsemanship. He spent time at Paco’s farm and found that he preferred to train horses in this manner. This method has enabled Antonio to develop his captivating display.

The bond between Antonio and Dorado – the eight-year-old palomino gelding the horseman partners in the display – is clearly evident. The Spaniard has a gentle and respectful manner of communicating with horses and Dorado responds to this gracefully.

Antonio Fernandez said: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be performing in Britain. Dorado and I will communicate in exactly the same way in front of the audience as we do when we are training at home. Dorado is my friend and I hope that he will become a friend to the HOYS visitors, too.

NobicioHelena Pettit of Grandstand Media Ltd, organiser of Horse of the Year Show, added: “The Horse of the Year Show audience is in for a real treat with our displays this year. The grace of Doma en Libertad with Antonio Fernádez ‘El Paqueto’ will be the perfect contrasting partner to the excitement and thrills of The Musical Ride of The Household Cavalry. We are delighted that for the second year running, we are able to provide our audience with entertainment that has never before been seen on British shores.”
