Bloomfield Excelsior claims Catplant Group of Companies Ltd Show Hunter of the Year title

18hh Heavyweight Hunter Bloomfield Excelsior, owned by Shades of Grey, claimed the Catplant Group of Companies Ltd Show Hunter of the Year title on day three of Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), with Diane Stennett’s Lightweight Hunter Time 2 Reflect in Reserve.

Produced by Jayne Ross, Bloomfield Excelsior was partnered in the Championship by Mark Chesters. On exiting the Andrews Bowen International Arena, Mark said: “He gave an amazing ride. He is so genuine and nothing fazes him.”

Both the Champion and Reserve were second in their respective sections last year and have had successful seasons in 2016.

By Jack of Diamonds out of Tamerarra, Bloomfield Excelsior has won a number of championships this season and qualified for HOYS at the Royal Three Counties Show. Time 2 Reflect was Hunter Champion at the Hickstead Derby Meeting and Supreme at the Royal International.

Winner of the Middleweight section was Mr and Mrs Bowie’s Potters Ace ridden by Oliver Hood.

The Championship saw two other awards presented to competitors; the Best Shod award and Best Turned Out award. The results were as follows:

Lightweight Hunter -

Best Shod: Red Letter Day owned by Zara Owen
Best Turned Out: Pride of Place owned by Jill Day

Middleweight Hunter -

Best Shod: Maverick Maybe owned by Nicola Turner
Best Turned Out: Storm owned by Christopher Spear

Heavyweight Hunter -

Best Shod: Appledark Magic Touch owned by Norma Grubb
Best Turned Out: Lord John owned by Henrietta Spencer
